Support Santiago Creek

Nootka Sound

Fundraising Complete!
Thank you for your support

In the summer of 2025, BC Marine Trails received a Site Condition Report (SCR) detailing significant infrastructure disrepair, and multiple danger trees threatening the safety of Santiago Creek, in Nootka Sound. As one of the only campsites along the inside (east) coast of Nootka, it is a crucial stopping point for safe passage in a circumnavigation, or an inside waters route.

The SCR was well timed, as our collaboration with the Mowachaht Muchalaht First Nation (MMFN) was deepening, with a boat accessed site assessment trip planned in the weeks soon after. Our team was able to visit the site in collaboration with MMFN, and further assess the work needed to restore Santiago Creek.

Details:

  • From May 20-23rd, a BC Marine Trails crew is heading out to build new picnic tables and fall all danger trees at the site.
  • Donations will cover gas & wood costs.
  • Shorebird Expeditions is generously donating boat time to bring our team to and from the site.
  • A plaque will be installed on the picnic tables listing those who contributed greater than $100 to the project.

Thanks for your support! The fundraiser is complete, additional funds will go to the General Fund for more projects.
