Welcome to the BC Marine Trails Indigenous Access Program
At BC Marine Trails (BCMT), we are committed to fostering respectful and collaborative relationships with Indigenous Nations along BC’s coastline. Recognizing the invaluable stewardship and deep-rooted connections that Indigenous communities have with these lands and waters, we are excited to share free access to our Member Map with Indigenous Guardians and land managers.
What is the BCMT Member Map?
The BC Marine Trails Member Map is an enhanced planning tool created to support safe, sustainable, and respectful paddling along the BC coast.
With free access for Indigenous Guardians and land managers, the map is also a resource for stewardship and collaboration.

Why Give Free Access?
By providing Indigenous Nations with free access to our Member Map, we aim to:
Share Real-Time Site Data
Provide access to live site condition reports, including information on safety, marine debris, and other relevant updates that can support monitoring efforts.
Support Stewardship Efforts
Equip Guardians with real-time data to help monitor and manage their traditional territories.
Enhance Collaboration
Facilitate the sharing of information between BCMT and Indigenous communities to promote sustainable marine recreation.
Respect Indigenous Rights
Uphold Indigenous rights to decision-making over their lands and waters by ensuring our mapping data aligns with each Nation’s management directions. We want to make sure we aren’t unintentionally directing visitors to areas that are culturally or ecologically sensitive. If you see a site in your territory that shouldn’t have visitors, please let us know—we’re committed to working together to redirect traffic to more appropriate locations.
