Gain practical insights on respectful visitation

Every adventure along the BC coast passes through the territory of one or more First Nations. Join BC Marine Trails & Best Coast Outfitters to explore how BCMT works with Nations to secure concurrence for campsites, close sites where needed, and support Nation led stewardship fees and visitor guidelines. You’ll leave with practical tools and trip planning tips to ensure your paddling respects Indigenous management and supports Indigenous stewardship on the water.

Speaker: Norman Marcy

Norman Marcy is a kayaker, cyclist, retired skier and reformed fisher, who relishes foraging in the forest. In 30 years, he has worked as a negotiator and engagement specialist with over 75 First Nations in British Columbia and Yukon. Norman participates in ORCBC’s Indigenous Reconciliation Committee and is the former Chair of BC Marine Trails’ First Nations Engagement Committee.  As a kayaker he has paddled coasts in BC, Alaska, Russia and Costa Rica and many large lakes in Yukon and BC.
