Landing Comments:
2 small rocky beaches. S aspect. Moderate gradient curved cleared boat run of smaller rocks at N margin of creek mouth 50 m to E of prominent main sign facing water. Some boulders, bedrock. Another narrower rough boat run through beach next to sign requires climbing on steps, hauling boats up bank. Frequent boulders elsewhere on main beaches. Limited area at high water. Alternate landing area 50 m to W of sign at W end of site on gravel with 100 mm rounded rocks at high water, but currently has poor upland access. Easiest boat stowage, best access on rack above E’most beach.
Camp Comments:
Large shaded site. Several tent sites just E of main landing in upland forest SW of stream. S aspect. – several other sites higher up slope to SW. Hammock opportunities. Composting toilet up trail via steps. Steel food bin. Picnic table. Boat rack. Visitor log book. Fire bucket. Sunny bluff for picnics. No fires in upland.
Other Comments:
Water at seasonal creek. Small waterfall. View. Attractive except Port Mellon mill visible, audible. Prominent sign visible from water. Squamish (Coast Salish) name Smenmántm Ḵ’í ḵp’ikw. Charted creek named Bain Ck is elsewhere. This creek is unnamed – maybe should be Bain Creek #2. Site stewards: Sea Kayak Assn of BC.
