Easy, protected landing on low gradient pebble, sand, grit beach. SE aspect. More protected landing than Ahous Bay – not exposed to prevailing NW/W/SW wind, swell. Beach mostly floods. Drift logs.

Camp Comments:

Camping not sanctioned by either Ahousaht First Nation or BC Parks. Picnic table, fire pit.

Other Comments:

Attractive. Ahousaht Nation semi-permanent camp – purpose unknown. See Vargas Island Provincial Park . Note: The Ahousaht Nation is requesting a voluntary $15/day payment in 2022. The territory is patrolled by a yellow boat called the “Ahous Guardian”. See Vargas map . Pre-purchase permits can be acquired at Lone Cone Hostel and Paddle West Kayaking. During the COVID-19 pandemic, camping is restricted to Vargas Island and Robert Point. Day use sites off Vargas are Whaler It and Blunden I. N & E Meares I is open.
