About the Maple Bay Ramp

This is an official BC Marine Trails launch site and part of the municipality of North Cowichan. This launch site is off Beaumont Avenue which runs parallel to Maple Bay. Beaumont Avenue is accessed from Maple Bay Road or Herd Road/Maple Bay Road. The ramp gives quick access to Maple Bay, Burgoyne Bay Day Use Site, and to Sansum Point west.

The Maple Bay Beach just south of Maple Bay Ramp can also be used as a launch site.

Nearby Campsites

The closest campsite to this launch is Musgrave Point, a provincial recreation site Paddlers must plan their trip through Sansum Narrows, which has moderate currents.

For a longer distance multi-day trip a paddler can launch from Maple Bay Ramp or Genoa Bay to reach campsites within the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, such as, Portland Island.
