Introduction

One of the main missions of the BC Marine Trails Network Association is to continue to ground proof and assess new sites along the BC coastline in order to establish the BC Marine Trails Network.  By getting the support of members and volunteers, who are exploring and paddling the BC coastline, we are able to gather more reliable information on sites.

How You Can Help

If you, your group or your paddling club is planning a trip in 2016 or 2017 you might consider assessing sites for the BC Marine Trails with our site assessment form (this is NOT a site condition report).

  1. First send an e-mail to our data coordinator, Nick (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), and indicate which area your group might explore. Or contact one of the directors (contact page) and ask for some help.
  2. We will send you a list of sites that need to be checked.
  3. Examine the site assessment form and take one or more copies with yout to fill out (or make notes with one copy to fill out when returning home.

There are three methods to using the Marine Trail Field Survey:

  1. We have an online form that sends a site assessment automatically to our data coordinator. This is the easiest method. Remember to send photos separately by e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please clearly identify the photo.
  2. The following form 'pdfTrails Development Evaluation' can be opened up in Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader. First save the form to your computer or laptop by right clicking the link below and then open it with a reader. Fill in the form, save it, and attach it to an e-mail (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), which is sent to our data coordinator. Vision

The BC Marine Trails Network (BCMTN) will be a series of interconnecting marine trails along the entire BC coastline:

  • designed with frequent access points, stopovers and campsites for users of small, beachable watercraft
  • to ensure continued coastal access for public marine recreationists to travel the BC coast and to land and camp along the way
