Sea to Sky Trail Provincial Parks

Introduction

Located on the south-east corner of Gambier Island this 309 hectare park (19 ha foreshore) is easily reached from Horseshoe Bay and within 16 km of Gibsons. For many paddlers this will be the southern first stop as they explore the Sea to Sky Marine Trail network. The park is open year-round.

Halkett Bay Prov. Park Campsite Information

Type of Site: Primary Campsite

Coordinates: N49° 27.285' W123° 19.622'

Landing Comments: Sand and gravel beside dock, gravel up to 100mm cobble South of creek.

Plumper Cove Marine Provincial Park

Introduction

Located on the north-west side of Keats Island this park is a short paddle from Gibsons. This 66 hectare park operates year-round.

•  Gibsons (access only) – 2.5 km (1.35 nm)
•  Halkett Bay Marine Provincial Park – 13.1 km (7.1 nm)

Plumper Cove Marine Park Campsite Information

Type of Site: Primary Campsite

Coordinates: N49° 24.283' W123° 28.252'

Landing Comments: The beach is mostly pebble with some sand. Kayaks can be beached below the campsites. Extensive floats and dock.

Porteau Provincial Park

Introduction

Located mid-way between Horseshoe Bay and Squamish on the eastern shore of Howe Sound this popular park is available for camping year-round. This 456 hectare park (52 ha of
foreshore) offers both camping and access to the heart of the Sea to Sky Marine Trail Network. Paddlers should be cautious about crossing Montagu Channel if strong winds are expected - rough sea conditions are frequent here.

Campsite Reservations:
This park is open year-round and is usually full during good weather. Campsite reservations are required for all campsites in this park from April 2 to October 11.
