Who is the trail for?
The trail is for kayakers and canoeists from around the world.

Where does the trail network start/finish?
There really is no start or finish to the trails. They will encompass the entire coastline of the province but with the option to start or finish wherever you want. The network of trails will extend to the Canada/US borders of Washington and Alaska as well as around Vancouver Island.

Can the network be used by novice paddlers?
For some parts of the network, most certainly. For other parts, conditions and geography will require advanced paddling skills. Some areas of the trail network will be very remote and you will need to be completely self-sufficient.

Is there a fee to use the trail?
No, there is no set fee to use the trail network. There may be a membership fee that will be required to access the campsite information on this website when it becomes available, but that has not yet been determined. Some campsites are operated by the Provincial or Federal governments, some are privately owned enterprises and will require a fee to stay the night, most campsites however, are on crown land and will not require a fee for camping.

When will the network be ready for use?
Many parts of the trails network are already established with existing campsites but many campsite areas are yet to be secured. This is a long-term project that will take several years to complete. We anticipate that portions of the trail will be made public as they are secured. This will be an ongoing process until the trail network is completed.

I'd like to help. What can I do?
Currently, the BCMTNA is in the planning stages and will require assistance from paddlers in the near future. Visit this website often and join our mail list to be kept apprised of news items and requests for assistance. Another thing that that you can do is to join your local paddling club as nearly all the clubs in BC are supportive of the efforts being made.

Who took the photos that are used on this website?
The majority of the photos were taken by Dan Millsip, the rock garden kayaking shots were taken by Mark Schilling. Both Dan and Mark are principal owners of WestCoastPaddler.com and donated the use of the photos to the BCMTNA. Andrew Allan kindly presented the use of the ocean canoeing photos. All of the photos were taken at various locations along the BC coast.
